2003 Le Presi Brunello di Montalcino
REGION
Tuscany, Italy
VARIETAL
Brunello
"Suggestive aromas of sweet licorice, tobacco, red cherries and spices emerge from Le Presi’s 2003 Brunello di Montalcino. This beautiful, cask-aged Brunello captures an attractive mix of ripe, generous fruit wrapped inside a classically built, structured frame. The tannins are well-integrated but firm, so another year or two of cellaring might be beneficial, but I wouldn’t wait too long as the wine’s aromatic and flavor profile suggest it won’t be especially long-lived. Still, this is a pretty wine from the southern part of the zone that is sure to provide much pleasure, particularly at the dinner table. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017."
