"Almus is entirely from the famous Caldwell Vineyard, source of Phelps Insignia, Viader, and Selene reds, and a region in Napa with at least 3 weeks more hang time than valley floor, thus adding a layered, mature component that is still not overly ripe. Rich and enticing, made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2005 has more heft than typical, but still offers the perfumed nose and the sense of grace and elegance that is the Almvs standard. It is ready now for complete enjoyment but cellar-worthy nonetheless. Only 228 cases made."
